Unfortunately, there are no nonsurgical methods that can be used to target fat buildup around the feet and ankles. The only way to lose weight is to lower your general body fat. This can be done using exercise and diet. The best method is using a combination of both.

Step 1

Limit the amount of unnecessary calories. Foods that are high in calories, such as fast food, fatty foods, sweets and soft drinks, cause fat buildup in different areas of your body, including your feet and ankles. Limiting how much you eat forces your body to turn to its fat stores for energy.

Step 2

Increase the amount of aerobic exercise you do. Aerobic exercises burn calories and speed up your metabolism. Running, skating, swimming, jumping, dancing and biking are all aerobic exercises.

Step 3

Increase your protein consumption. Protein is the building block of muscle tissue. Increasing your protein consumption will help your body build more muscle. Think of muscle tissue as your body's engine and your calories as fuel. The bigger your furnace, the more fuel you will burn. Lean chicken breast, soy beans, whey supplements and egg whites are all low-fat sources of protein.
