For your Oster clippers to continue to run properly and last longer, you should provide regular maintenance. Dirt and debris can build up between the blades and cause the clipper to pull and tug at the hair shaft and improperly cut the hair. Not cleaning the blades can dull them and could require you to sharpen or replace the blades. Avoid additional costs by cleaning the blades of Oster clippers.
Step 1
Pour a clipper blade wash that contains the active ingredient petroleum distillate into a shallow pan or bowl. It should be deep enough to only cover the blades of your Oster clippers.
Step 2
Turn the Oster clippers on and submerge the blades while the clipper runs. The hum of the clipper motor changes and the blades operate faster once the build up of hair and debris are removed from the blades.
Step 3
Remove the clipper blades from the blade wash and turn the clippers off. Wipe the blades with a clean, lint-free cloth to remove any excess blade wash.
Step 4
Hold the clipper blades toward the ground, and apply two to four drops of clipper lubricating oil over the top of the clipper blades. Make sure you use lubricating oil designed for clippers and blades. Wipe away any excess oil from the clippers.
