About Stanozolol

Stanozolol, commonly sold under the brand name Winstrol, is a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from testosterone. In most cases it is prescribed for the treatment of hereditary angioedema. Attacks of hereditary angioedema can cause episodes of swelling in the face, throat, bowel wall, genitals and extremities. Stanozolol may also be used in the treatment of weight loss, debility and non-regenerative anemias.

The Facts

Stanozolol was developed by Winthrop Laboratories in 1962. Among the general public, it is probably the most famous steroid in the world. It is commonly sold in tablet form, and while it has many medical uses that can be extremely beneficial if taken correctly, it is also very commonly used by bodybuilders and is one of the drugs that is banned from use in sports competition under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

History

There have been many documented cases of stanozolol use and abuse across the realm of sports. It falls under the category of "performance-enhancing drugs," and several professional baseball players have tested positive for stanozolol, including Rafael Palmeiro, and there are widespread-yet-unconfirmed reports that it has been used by both Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds. There are also infamous cases of Olympic gold medals being stripped of their medals due to its use. Even thoroughbred racehorses, such as recent Triple Crown hopeful Big Brown, have been given the drug.

Function

It is important to take stanozolol regularly to get the most beneficial results. The initial dose is usually 2 mg orally three times a day. While the symptoms of a stanozolol overdose are not currently known--and overdosing on the drug is not thought to be life-threatening--it is still very important to take only the prescribed amount and to not use stanozolol in excess. If you miss one of your regular doses, you should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose when you remember, you should simply skip the dose you missed and take only the next regularly scheduled dose.

Identification

Like most anabolic steroids in the United States, stanozolol is classified as a controlled substance under federal regulation. In some states, such as New York, the state legislature classifies anabolic steroids under DEA Schedule III. Stanozolol is only legally available with a prescription, although there are other brands or generic formulations on the market.

Warning

There are some serious complications that can arise from the use of stanozolol. In rare cases serious and even fatal cases of liver problems have developed during use. Although rare, there have also been documented cases of liver problems developing during treatment with stanozolol. You should consult with your doctor before using the drug, and if you begin to show any side effects such as a severe allergic reaction, swelling of the extremities, hair loss, trouble breathing or hoarseness, you should contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention.
