The Modified Profast Diet is a diet program designed by physicians and nutritionists at the Metabolic Medical Center, a medical franchise with a focus on healthy weight loss. The aim of the program is to teach you how to consume a diet with fewer simple sugars and more lean protein and vegetables. The Modified Profast Diet also encourages your body to accept smaller portions while still maintaining a healthy and balanced amount of energy. There are several foods you can eat while on the diet.
Lean Meat
Along with the meal replacement shakes that are a part of the Modified Profast plan, you are required to eat one to two servings of lean meat with your meals. Fish, poultry such as chicken or turkey without skin, and lean cuts of beef are all acceptable choices. Avoid meat with high fat content such as bacon, stew beef and heavily marbled steak.
Vegetables
Vegetables are an important source of complex carbohydrates and vital nutrients. According to the Metabolic Medical Center, it is necessary to eat plenty of fresh vegetables throughout the day. Vegetables that are high in fiber and contain fewer starches, such as spinach, celery and tomatoes are an approved part of the Profast diet.
Beverages
Drinks that are low in sugar such as coffee, tea and water are all positive choices when following the Modified Profast program. Stick to beverages that are low-calorie. Artificial sweeteners and diet soda are allowed on the diet program in moderation. However, water is your best choice. You should drink a minimum of eight 8-oz. glasses of water each day to keep your hydrated and feeling full.
