In March 2010, Sunsilk launched its new hair care line, co-branded with top hair stylists from around the world. These products are more focused on solving hair problems than the company's original line. Sunsilk is also dedicated to providing tips to readers through these stylists.
Use the Right Products
Sunsilk's original line was focused on color-enhancing shampoos, conditioners and stylists. It was introduced to Europeans in 2006. Their more recent products focus on maintaining the best quality for hair with specific items such as Lusciously Thick & Long, Damage Reconstruction and Anti-Dandruff Solution. To maintain your hair at its best, pick the specific line for your hair type. For example, Dream Soft and Smooth is good for hair that is very dry and Hair Fall is made to strengthen hair that breaks easily.
Enjoy the Shelf Life
Once you find the Sunsilk product that suits your needs, you can hold on to it. According to the Sunsilk company, which is a division of the Unilever Global Corporation, their products will maintain their freshness and quality for a minimum of two years. Make sure they are stored at room temperature if you want them to last.
Keep it Cold
Hairstylist Jamal Hammadi, one of the co-creators who works with Sunsilk, offers a tip on the company's website on how to get the most out of your conditioner. He notes that cold water seals the cuticles of your hair to hold in the moisture. Rather than freezing in a cold shower, chill your conditioner in the refrigerator to get the same effect.
Do Deep Conditioning
Sunsilk conditioners are available in different formulas so you can purchase the best one for your hair, but sometimes you need a deeper conditioning. To get the conditioner to penetrate your hair efficiently, pour out a drop of conditioner the size of a coin on your hand and spread onto your hair, then wrap your hair in a warm towel for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing the conditioner out.
Increase Volume
Stylist and Sunsilk co-creator Teddy Charles offers a number of tips on how to increase the volume in your hair. He suggests concentrating Sunsilk Lusciously Thick & Long Shampoo on your roots when you wash your hair. He also recommends using the company's mousse since lightweight products don't weigh your hair down as much. If you're going to use a spray gel, Charles says to only use it on damp hair.
Keep Your Color
Sunsilk makes color-enhancing shampoos, conditioners and styling products for blondes, brunettes and redheads. There are also two other tips the co-creators offer to help maintain color in addition to using products specific to your color -- avoid washing hair with hot water and be sure to wet your hair prior to swimming in a chlorine-filled pool. These tips will help you keep your color looking fresh longer.
