If you're seeking a budget-friendly, chemical-free facial cleanser that you can make at home, a honey facial cleanser may be exactly what you're looking for. Although honey can be found in many expensive facial cleansers, a homemade facial cleanser is simple, inexpensive and effective, and will gently clean any skin type, including extremely dry or sensitive skin. Honey is a natural moisturizer that leaves your skin glowing with health, but won't leave the skin oily. Honey also contains antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that can help soothe the skin and prevent breakouts.

Step 1

Place 1/4 cup natural, organic honey in a small mixing bowl. Warm the honey in the microwave for a few seconds to make it easier to blend.

Step 2

Stir in 1 tbsp. liquid castile soap or other gentle liquid soap and 1/2 cup glycerin. Mix well.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into a clean plastic bottle with a flip top. Squeeze a small amount of the honey cleanser on a damp sponge or washcloth and massage the cleanser into your face.

Step 4

Rinse the honey cleanser from your skin with warm water. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

Tips and Warnings

  • Glycerin can be purchased at beauty supply stores or pharmacies. Mix a small amount of warm honey with plain yogurt or a ripe banana for a nourishing, impromptu skin cleanser. Use full-fat yogurt for dry skin and low-fat yogurt for oily skin.
