As with other brands of treadmill, Keys Fitness devices operate by rotating a large belt over the surface of a walking deck. The treadmill's motor unit, controlled by the console, spins an attached pulley wheel. A drive belt connects this wheel to the treadmill deck's front roller. As the roller spins, the walking belt moves. While the treadmill's deck comes pre-lubricated, this coating may wear off over time, allowing friction to wear away at the walking belt and requiring the belt to be replaced.
Step 1
Remove the screws from the upper section of the motor cover, then lift the cover off of the base unit and set it aside. Remove the two bolts securing the end cap to the base unit. Pull the end cap off of the base unit and set it aside. Remove the two side boards and set them aside.
Step 2
Remove the bolt connecting the front roller assembly to the base unit. Separate the drive belt from the front roller assembly. Remove the front and rear roller assemblies from the walking belt.
Step 3
Loosen the screws attached to the right side of the walking deck. Remove the screws attached to the left side of the deck. Pull the old walking belt off of the deck and set it aside. Spread out the new walking belt next to the left side of the deck with the belt's seam facing upward.
Step 4
Insert the edge of the deck into the belt, then slide the belt onto the deck. Use the previously-removed screws to secure the left side of the deck to the base unit. Tighten the screws attached to the right side of the deck. Lift the upper end of the belt and apply a coating of silicone lubricant to the surface of the deck.
Step 5
Slide the front and rear roller assemblies through the belt, back to their original locations. Place the drive belt over the nearest end of the front roller assembly. Spin the motor pulley by hand to confirm that the belt is secure; adjust if necessary. Bolt the front roller assembly to the base unit.
Step 6
Place a side board on each side of the walking deck. Fit the end cap over the rear of the side boards and walking deck. Slide the two previously-removed bolts through the holes in the end cap into the holes on the rear roller assembly. If you are unable to find the holes, turn the rear roller by hand until you feel the bolts catch. Tighten the bolts.
Step 7
Fit the motor cover back onto the base unit. Use the previously-removed screws to secure the motor cover in place. Plug in the treadmill and insert the safety key. Stand next to the deck and press the “Power” button, followed by the “Start” button. Allow the treadmill to run for two to three minutes, then remove the safety key.
