The Bowflex Ultimate 2 home gym is the most complete gym in Bowflex's lineup, according to personal trainer Bret Spottke, writing on the Exercise Equipment Expert website. It contains a bench press, rowing station, lat tower, squat area and leg extension station, which all combines to offer a total body workout similar to club-level equipment. To maximize your workout, safety and the life of the Bowflex Ultimate 2, you must assemble it properly before using the machine.
Step 1
Slide the front and rear base pieces together until the locking pins touch the side plates. Squeeze the front handle and tip up the front base. Slide the locking pins into the side plates on the rear base until they are fully inserted. Bolt the two pieces together. Fold up the front base and install the nylon locking nut in the handle.
Step 2
Place the front and rear plastic covers on the base and screw them in place. Bolt the base plate on the bottom of the front base and attach the power rod box to the rear base. The rear base must be folded up to attach the power rod box. Slide the power rod pack into the power rod box with the 50-lb. rods facing down and then screw it in place. Secure the power rod retaining bracket inside the box.
Step 3
Insert the cross brace and squat bar holder into the lower lat tower uprights, but do not tighten them in place yet. Place the lat tower upright openings over the extrusions in the base assembly and bolt them in place. Tighten all of the hardware.
Step 4
Align the holes of the seat rail with the holes in the power rod box and bolt it in place. Align the holes in the chest bar and washer plate with the set of upper lat tower uprights. Bolt them in place and then put a pulley slider on either end of the bar with the adjustment knob facing the seat.
Step 5
Attach the left and right lat boom to the pulley frame boom assembly. Slide the entire apparatus into the first set of lat tower uprights and bolt it in place. This assembly is heavy, and Bowflex advises you have an assistant help you lower it in place.
Step 6
Thread the cables through the pulleys of the lat tower, base and leg extension at the end of the seat rail. Secure the cable ends with power rod or attachment hooks as necessary.
Step 7
Lift up the seat rail and lock it into its vertical position. Hook the lower portion of the squat attachment into the lower post on the seat frame and lock the attachment in place during use. Remove when finished.
Step 8
Clip the leg attachment hooks onto the seat post support and clip it in place. When doing curls, attach the preacher curl bar to the leg extension cable and install the padded attachment in front of the seat. When using the bench, clip it into place on the seat rail.
Step 9
Screw the brackets onto the back of the Bowflex DVD player and then remove the rubber cover from the front face plate. Screw the DVD player in place to complete the assembly.
