How to Eat With the Hoodia Patch

A Hoodia patch is an over-the-counter diet supplement used by people as a way to curb their appetite. Instead of consuming pills, you apply a patch externally and the ingredients are absorbed through your skin. The patches contain traces of Hoodia Gordonii, an herb used to stop hunger cravings. Speak to your doctor before adjusting your diet and using a weight loss supplement. Remember that all claims made by the manufacturers of Hoodia patches have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Step 1

Apply the Hoodia patch in the morning to a clean and dry area of your skin. Leave the Hoodia patch on throughout the day. You can purchase the patches through vitamin stores or through online nutritional supplement retailers, such as the Vita Springs website (see Resources below).

Step 2

Drink a lot of water throughout the day. Hoodia is said to curb your appetite and quench your thirst. To prevent dehydration, make sure you drink at least eight to ten glasses of water each day.

Step 3

Take a vitamin supplement. You should include a multi-vitamin into your diet while using the Hoodia patch because as you start to feel less hungry, you may accidentally miss meals. Skipping meals can deprive your body of important nutrients.

Step 4

Incorporate fruits and vegetables into your meals. If you want to lose weight with the Hoodia patch, avoid foods that are high in fat or sugar. Some examples include fried meals, fast-food entrees, cakes, cookies and candy. Instead, your meals should be made up of mostly fruits, veggies and lean protein options such as turkey, chicken and fish.

Step 5

Keep a diet journal so you can monitor the foods you're eating to make sure you are eating enough while using the Hoodia patch. Meal planning in your journal can help you avoid skipping meals.
