A birthmark that looks like a mole falls under the pigmented birthmark category. These birthmarks usually do not turn into cancer and are present since birth or shortly thereafter. Birthmarks may grow in size as the body changes. The marks can be treated and removed in the same way as a mole. Birthmarks can be removed by a dermatologist, but this procedure is often costly if it is purely for cosmetic reasons. Natural remedies are effective at removing birthmarks and moles but may take up to several months if the birthmark is large.

Step 1

Massage the birthmark every morning with castor oil. Castor oil contains a unique property call ricinoleic acid, a rich fatty acid that is able to penetrate deeply into the skin. It encourages the layers of skin under the birthmark to shed, resulting in a gradual removal of the birthmark. Unlike dermatological options, castor oil does not leave a hole in the skin or discoloration. Do not rinse off the castor oil.

Step 2

Mix a paste of baking soda and a few drops of castor oil. Apply the paste to the birthmark every evening. Cover the mark with a bandage to keep the paste on the skin.

Step 3

Remove the bandage in the morning and rinse the skin. Within a few weeks you should notice a dark scab forming on the birthmark. As the scab falls off, the skin will shed further until the birthmark is completely gone. This process could take two to three months.
