Detoxification is a way to restore the body to its natural health and rhythm. It involves releasing and removing built-up toxins and wastes within our systems. The body has its own natural process of detoxification, which occurs on a regular basis. Much of this process occurs through urination, perspiration, and defecation. Sometimes, you may decide to perform a cleansing detoxification of your body. Detox teas, including those made under the Yogi brand, provide an easy option when performing a detox.

Herbal Detox Tea

Your body has several organs that help to remove toxins through natural detoxification processes. These organs include the skin, colon, liver, kidneys, blood, lungs, and the immune system. In general, detox teas contain herbs that assist in cleansing one or more of these organs.

Herbs Found in Yogi Detox Tea

Yogi Detox Tea is created from a mixture of herbs. It contains two herbs known mainly for detoxification: organic burdock and organic dandelion. Burdock is known as being a blood purifier because it is said to cleanse the organs and strengthen the immune system. It is even known to help skin problems such as acne.

Dandelion has the ability to improve the function of the liver and the kidneys. The dandelion root aids the liver while the leaves aid the kidneys. Dandelion is considered a nutritious herb full of vitamins and as much beta carotene as carrots, according to the company website.

Types of Yogi Detox Tea

Yogi Detox Tea comes in three varieties: Detox, Berry Detox, and Peach Detox. The Detox flavor claims to gently cleanse the body while aiding the liver and the kidneys. The Berry flavor focuses on the liver and the intestines. The added acai berry adds antioxidants to the tea that help to fight free radicals. The Peach Detox focuses on cleansing the kidneys. The herbs in Peach Detox tea claim to increase circulation. Doing so improves the cleansing function of the liver and kidneys.

Instructions

Pour hot water over the tea bag and steep the tea for five to 10 minutes. Using two tea bags at a time will produce a stronger tea. It's recommended that no more than 10 tea bags be consumed in one day. The detox can be done daily up to 30 days.
