A healthy diet contains foods that are mostly alkaline. However, about 20 percent of your diet should consist of acidic foods. One potential source of these foods is fruit. Although most are alkaline, some fruits contain high acid levels. They should be enjoyed in moderation but can offer some nutritional value.

Berries

Several kinds of berries--including cranberries, blueberries and blackberries--are highly acidic and may not be the best fruits to enjoy if you're sticking to an alkaline diet.

Plums & Prunes

Plums and prunes are also highly acidic. Moderation is key, but both of these fruits are great for the digestive tract and offer health benefits that outweigh the drawback of their acidity.

Currants

Though not enjoyed quite as often as berries and plums, currants are another highly acidic fruit that you may want to avoid if on an alkaline diet. However, eating currants every once in a while isn't a bad thing. The vitamin C is enough to make up for the high acid levels.

Glazed Fruits

If there's one kind of fruit you're probably best avoiding, it's canned or glazed fruits. These fruits are filled with sugar and often contain super high levels of acid, which can harm the body over time.
