Dark skin under your arms can occur for a variety of reasons. Dead skin cells that accumulate in the underarm area can make your skin appear dark. Shaving or waxing helps remove these dead skin cells, but if you do neither, they will continue to accumulate unless you take action. Exfoliating the skin of your underarm area, along with the use of a natural bleaching agent can help whiten and even out your skin tone.
Step 1
Wet your skin in the bath or shower. Pour a few drops of liquid body scrub on a nylon shower puff, washcloth or loofah.
Step 2
Rub the liquid body scrub over the skin of your underarms. Massage the body scrub into your skin using circular motions.
Step 3
Rinse the body scrub from your body. Blot your skin dry with a clean towel after rinsing.
Step 4
Cut a lemon into ½-inch slices using a knife. Place two of the slices on a plate and wrap the others in a piece of plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator until needed.
Step 5
Pick-up one of the lemon slices and rub it on the dark skin of one of your underarms. Continue rubbing, releasing the juice onto your skin.
Step 6
Discard the used lemon slice, pick-up the other and repeat the process on your other underarm. Leave the juice on your skin for 30 minutes.
Step 7
Rinse the lemon juice from your underarms using a wet washcloth. Repeat the exfoliation and lightening process two to three times a week or until you achieve the desired result.
Tips and Warnings
- Lemon juice can cause your skin to feel dry. If this is the case, apply a moisturizer after each lemon treatment.
- Exfoliate once a week instead of two or three times if the skin under your arms becomes irritated.
