Pressure point therapy uses body trigger points to relieve pain, release tension and promote healing. Acupressure is the ancient Chinese healing art form that uses the fingers to press various points to elicit a self-curative response. When attempting to relieve back pain, it may be difficult to apply pressure on specific points with your own fingers. There are several tools you can try to help you utilize the holistic healing approach of trigger point therapy and find relief for back pain.
Pressure Pointer
The Pressure Pointer, developed and manufactured by Pressure Products, is a tool that allows you apply pressure to hard-to-reach trigger points in your back. Shaped like a large shepherd's hook, the tool has a round head that's placed over the trigger point, and the other end of the curved hook is placed under your foot. Once you have the tool in place, you can relax your arms and let the power of your legs apply the pressure to the painful site. The Pressure Pointer comes with interchangeable heads that can address very specific small areas up to broader points of pain.
The Original Backnobber II
Similar to the Pressure Pointer, the Original Backnobber II allows you to apply firm, deep pressure to tense, knotted muscles in your neck, shoulders, and upper and lower back. The tool is shaped like an "S" and is used by hooking one of the curves over your shoulder or under your arm. With the head placed directly over the trigger point, you use the leverage created by the "S" design and apply pressure on the bottom curve with your hands and arm strength.
The Original Index Knobber II
The Original Index Knobber II is a trigger-point tool designed to deliver similar pressure as your thumb or knuckles. The device is small and portable, which makes it ideal to apply deep pressure to muscles while at your desk at work or relaxing at home. Because of its unique design, you can use this tool in several hand positions and interchange it easily between your left or right hand for optimum accessibility to knots in your back and neck.
