How to Rejuvenate Your Cells

The health of your cells depends on the basic principles of consuming a healthy diet, receiving enough rest and performing a regular exercise routine. According to the John Hopkins Medicine Group, cells require a constant supply of oxygen to function properly and stay rejuvenated. If you are feeling fatigued and depleted or your skin looks dry and hazy, these are signs that your cells may need rejuvenation and you should assess your health habits to pinpoint how you can support your cells. Stress also affects the health of your cells, so it is important to incorporate relaxation in your life.

Step 1

Support your body in your resting time by generating a peaceful environment in your bedroom and having complete darkness while you sleep. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, your body produces more melatonin when it is dark. Melatonin is a hormone that has antioxidant properties, helping your body fight free radicals that affect the health of your cells. Resting also helps you relieve stress and feel rejuvenated and energetic about the activities you need to accomplish.

Step 2

Eat healthy meals that include fruits and vegetables high in minerals and vitamins that your cells need to remain healthy and rejuvenated. For example, carrots are high in vitamin A and leafy greens such as kale, broccoli and chard are high in iron. To obtain B complex vitamins, consider eating lean and organic meats and for vitamin D, a short amount of sunlight on your skin each day helps.

Step 3

Incorporate at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise in your daily routine four to five times per week. As you perform cardiovascular exercise such as walking, swimming, hiking or biking, you are raising your heart rate and increasing your oxygen intake, which will make its way to each cell in your body, providing fuel for proper cellular functioning.

Step 4

Drink at least six 8-oz. glasses of filtered water per day to hydrate all the cells in your body. Even though you need approximately a gallon of water per day, which is 16 8-oz. glasses, according to the American Museum of Natural History, you get a lot of your water needs from the food you eat.
