Becoming beautiful involves more than appearances. In order to attain radiant beauty inside and out, it is important to follow a path that will keep the body and mind youthful and vibrant. This involves nurturing the skin, the spirit and the body in ways that promote the most beautiful results possible.

Whole Foods

Whole foods are little-processed and unpackaged foods that are as close to their natural state as they can be. Whole foods retain much of their nutrients, which are passed onto the body when eaten and help to maintain healthy and youthful skin and organs. Whole foods include fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes, lean meats and fish.

Physical Fitness

Exercise helps the body regulate the hormone distribution, fluid balance and electrolyte balance in the body systems. Exercising keeps the muscles and skin toned and tight, helping you keep a youthful appearance longer. Following a combination of aerobic and strength training exercises will maintain a healthy heart and lungs, as well as keeping the skin toned.

Rest

Without proper rest, the systems in the body cannot function properly. This can cause the body to retain fluid, can impede circulation and can cause muscle fatigue. Lack of rest can cause the eyes to appear puffy and dark, which makes you appear older and tired. Making sure to get at least eight hours of sleep every night will maintain a more youthful, rested appearance.

Eliminating Sugars

Eating sugars, such as granulated sugar, syrups and honey, will cause the body to release cortisol, the hormone that controls stress in the body. When too much cortisol is produced, it ages the body and the skin. Reducing or eliminating sugars from your diet will reduce the amount of cortisol the body produces.

Quit Smoking

Smoking not only damages the lungs and the heart, but also prematurely ages the skin by causing deep, crepe-like wrinkling and sagging. Even if your legs and arms are not overly exposed to sunlight the skin there will be wrinkled or sagging because of smoking.

Eliminate Alcohol

Drinking alcoholic beverages taxes the liver, which controls how easily the body is able to flush out toxins from the body. If the liver is not working right from consuming too much alcohol, it can cause toxins to build up in the body. This can cause the skin to appear older and sallow.

Meditation

Meditation calms the mind and allows the body to stop producing cortisol. Regular meditation can help you maintain a more beautiful, youthful appearance.

Charity

Giving to charity lightens the heart and brings joy to your life. This joy will come out in the face, causing you to appear more beautiful and pleasant. Donate clothing or volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Style

Maintaining a sense of style in your clothing selections will allow you to feel more beautiful in what you are wearing. Chose flattering clothing that is neither too loose nor too tight, and select colors that complement your skin tone.

Exfoliating the Skin

Exfoliating the skin removes the dead surface layers, which allows the smooth new skin cells to show through. Natural exfoliators, that can be massaged into the skin once per week, include baking soda, granulated sugar and raw oats.
