Olay Professional Pro-X Eye Restoration Complex and Clinique All About Eyes Rich creams are designed to treat dark circles around the eyes. Olay's formula was developed by dermatologists and Procter & Gamble Beauty Scientists, according to the Olay website, who partnered with Olay to create "The Olay Professional Alliance for Skin Care Innovation." The Clinique eye cream has been ophthalmologist tested, according to Clinique.com.

Olay Ingredients

Olay Professional Pro-X Eye Restoration Complex contains a number of ingredients, including caffeine and vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 is also known as niacinamide, which is commonly used in skin care and anti-aging products, according to the Mayo Clinic. The scientific evidence on the exact benefits of the vitamin for anti-aging purposes is unclear, and more studies are needed before it can be recommended, based on information from the Mayo Clinic.

Caffeine is a newer ingredient in beauty products. It is believed to help relieve dark circles and puffiness by draining blood from vessels around the eyes, according to a CBS News report. The report claims that caffeine tightens the skin and contains acid that acts as an antioxidant.

Olay Application

Olay Professional Pro-X Eye Restoration Complex should be applied to your skin in the morning and in the evening, according to the Olay website. The cream should be thoroughly patted in until it is completely absorbed into the corners of the eye area, as well as the eyelids and suborbital eye areas. Avoid direct contact with the eyeball. Wash out your eye with water if contact is made.

Clinique Ingredients

Clinique All About Eyes Rich contains botanicals and is fragrance free. The cream also consists of water, beeswax, milk and whey protein, magnesium and iron oxides, among other ingredients. This complex of natural and chemical ingredients targets dark circles and boosts natural collagen production, according to Clinique.com. The site also claims that All About Eyes Rich strengthens skin's moisture barrier and protects against irritants. The product is available in a 0.5 oz and 1 oz bottle.

Clinique Application

According to Macys.com, you should apply the cream in the morning and in the evening. Gently pat the cream around the entire eye area, including the lid, using your ring finger. Pat until cream has been fully absorbed by the skin, especially on the darkest areas of circles. Avoid contact with your eyes. Wash out your eyes if cream comes into contact with the eyes.
