How to Reduce Relative Estrogen Levels

Estrogen is a female hormone produced by the ovaries. It has both positive and negative effects on the human body. The estrogenic hormones have the unique responsibility of developing female sexual characteristics, and are responsible for healthy reproduction. Estrogen circulates throughout the bloodstream to bind to targeted receptors on cells in specific tissues of the breasts, uterus, brain, bone, heart, liver and other tissues. Reducing relative estrogen levels can be done safely and naturally to support breast health and overall well-being.

Step 1

Avoid exposure to the hormones that may be contained in nonorganic fruits and vegetables, as well as certain hormones found in meats and poultry. Certain pesticides may have estrogen-like effects when absorbed into the body. Choose organic produce when buying food, and reduce your intake of meats.

Step 2

Maintain a healthy body weight through consistent moderate to highly intensive activity of over 30 minutes, four to five times per week. Women who carry around excess fat tend to have higher estrogen levels, suggests the website HealthMad. A well-rounded fitness routine combined with a reduction in calories will stimulate fat loss, and effectively reduce the effects of estrogen dominance.

Step 3

Substitute a nondairy milk such as almond milk or coconut milk for cow's milk. Cow's milk is obtained frequently when cows are pregnant, and their milk is packed with estrogens.

Step 4

Consume adequate amounts of fiber in your daily diet. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, legumes and fruits. Fiber may reduce levels of estrogens by increasing their elimination in bile, suggests Cornell University.
