A detox diet can help your body flush out pollutants and cleanse your system of accumulated toxins. Eliminating toxins can help you lose weight, sleep better, boost your immune system, correct hormone imbalances, give you more energy, and treat allergies and chronic disease. There are a variety of safe detox diets designed specifically for women.

The Inside-Out Diet

The inside-out diet was designed by Cathy Wong, N.D., C.N.S. and is a three part detox diet designed to cleanse your colon and liver, balance hormone levels and restore insulin sensitivity. This is a gentle weight-loss diet that claims to involve optimal liver function, so that your liver processes fat rather than stores it. It does not involve colonics or fasting, but does require supplements.

7 Day Raw Detox Diet for Women

The Raw Divas designed the 7 Day Raw Detox to help women overcome food cravings, get rid of food guilt, flatten the stomach and treat cellulite. This is a raw fruit and vegetable detox that does not involve supplements or food replacements. There is also a 6 week deep tissue detox that involves ridding the body of candida and balancing the body's bacteria and has an emotional detox component to help "detoxify" negative thought patterns.

Women to Women's Quick Cleanse

Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN NP created the Women to Women's Quick Cleanse to eliminate foods that cause toxins to build up in your immune, endocrine and digestive systems, which she states slow down your metabolism. Designed to balance estrogen and thyroid levels, it revs up metabolism and increases insulin sensitivity. The cleanse involves eating real whole foods, with high quality lean protein and limiting carbohydrates to no more than 60g a day. It does require fiber supplements a multivitamin, and extra omega-3s.

Detox for Women

Detox for Women, written by Natalia Rose, says her plan is specially designed for the modern woman whose "system has been seriously compromised by lifestyle." It is an alkalizing diet that seeks to reduce yeast and encourage good bacteria growth. The diet does emphasize raw foods, but allows for some cooked foods, including high quality animal protein. There are two versions of the detox, one flexible that includes treats like dark chocolate or alcohol and one that is more intense.
