Acne is an embarrassing and often times painful condition. Treating it can be time consuming and expensive, often with little or no results. Technology and research have lead to new treatments and procedures that give you a better shot at winning the battle with acne. The use of heat has shown promise for clearing even the worst acne.

Pulse Light and Heat Energy

With pulse light and heat energy therapy, doctors believe you can treat two separate causes of acne. According to AcneNet, the treatment is known to kill the acne causing bacteria P. acnes. It also may lower the production of sebum production by making sebaceous glands smaller. Pulse light and heat energy therapy can cause temporary redness in the area that is treated.

Sun Exposure

According to Brown University Health services, getting moderate amounts of sun can be beneficial for treating acne. Although some sun can help clear up acne, a sunburn does more damage than it does good. Use a sunscreen with at least SPF 15. Avoid getting too much sun while taking certain acne medications, as they can make your skin more sensitive to the sun's rays.

Zeno Handheld Device

Zeno is a hand-held device that has been shown to get rid of acne. The device delivers a controlled dose of heat to the acne thereby causing more than 90% of acne to disappear within 24 to 48 hours. The treatment should be used 2 to 3 times for two-and-a-half minutes. While the heat given off by the device is hot enough to kill the bacteria, it is not hot enough to damage your skin. Although the device works well on its own, it is safe to use alongside an over-the-counter acne cleanser or even a prescription acne medication.
