VPX Sports, makers of Redline Energy Drink, markets the drink as a performance enhancer for athletes and body builders. The company primarily targets men, although it has released Redline Princess for women. The manufacturer claims that in addition to giving you an energy boost, it will also help you lose weight by inducing shivering and sweating.
Effects Of Caffeine
Caffeine is the most popular psycoactive drug in the world, according to National Geographic. It is a neurostimulant that can improve your mood and help you stay awake, but too much caffeine can cause negative side effects, including headache, nausea and vomiting, heart palpitations and extreme mania. It can be lethal in massive doses.
Safe Caffeine Levels
A level of 250 mg of caffeine per day is considered safe level for most adults, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. However, caffeine sensitivity can vary widely. Some people are highly sensitive to the drug and react strongly to very small doses. Others, especially those who are accustomed to consuming caffeine, have a tolerance to it, and they can consume larger doses without adverse effects.
Dosage
The manufacturer's recommended dosage of Redline Energy Drink is 4 oz. or half of one can. The warning label also states that you should begin with half the recommended dosage to gauge your ability to tolerate Redline. The manufacturer warns that you should not consume more than two doses or one full can of Redline per day. Redline Energy Drink contains between 250 mg and 350 mg of caffeine, or one day's allotment, per dose.
Mixing With Alcohol
Mixing energy drinks like Redline with alcohol is a popular way to consume these beverages, but scientists and governmental agencies have expressed concerns over the safety of the combination. According to research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, combining caffeine with alcohol reduces your perception of intoxication. Because you do not feel drunk, you are more likely to engage in risky behaviors, such as driving, and believe that you aren't impaired enough to cause harm to yourself or others. These concerns led to a lawsuit by 11 states against Anheuser-Busch that was settled in 2008, with the beverage manufacturer agreeing to halt production of premixed caffeinated alcoholic beverages.
Warnings
Users of Redline Energy Drink have experienced cases of caffeine toxicity. If you experience vomiting, tremors, chest pain or numbness after drinking Redline Energy Drink, call a poison control center or go to the nearest emergency room. People under 18 years of age, women who are pregnant or nursing and those with psychiatric disorders, such as depression, should not consume Redline Energy Drink.
