Recipe for Body Wraps to Lose Weight and Inches

Body wraps draw toxins and excess fluid out of the body and may cause temporary weight loss. Because of the fluid loss, a body wrap can also result in a temporary loss of inches around the body. Body wraps are easy to make and only require a few household ingredients, such as sea salt, that are available at your grocery store. More exotic ingredients, such as essential oils and bentonite clay, are available from health-food stores and online retailers.

Making the Wrap

Step 1

Pour 2 cups of water into a medium-size pot and add the sea salt. Bring the water to a boil and stir with the wooden spoon.

Step 2

Turn off the heat and add the grapefruit, lemongrass and clary-sage essential oil. Stir.

Step 3

Add the bentonite clay and stir until it dissolves.

Step 4

Add the olive oil. Remove from heat and stir until it forms a thin paste. Set the wrap mixture aside to cool.

Using the Wrap

Step 1

Take a shower before applying the wrap. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub to remove any dead skin. Dry out the tub after your shower.

Step 2

Spread one sheet in the bottom of the bathtub. Put the center of the sheet in the bottom and let the ends extend over the edges of the tub.

Step 3

Apply the wrap paste to your entire body, from the neck down. Avoid sensitive areas, such as the genitals.

Step 4

Sit upright in the tub and wrap the sheet around your legs and feet. Wrap the other sheet around your upper body. The sheets should be snug but not constricting.

Step 5

Lean back in the tub and relax for 45 minutes to an hour. Unwrap the sheets and remove them from the tub. Rinse off any remaining paste in the shower.
