Godfather's Pizza has over 600 locations in more than 40 states, according to the company's website. This nationwide pizza company boasts several crust varieties and 100 percent real cheese, but does that make Godfather's Pizza a healthy choice? Before visiting a Godfather's restaurant, consider the nutritional information for some of their menu items.

Cheese Pizza

One slice of a classic cheese pizza at Godfather's Pizza will provide 290 calories, with 9 g of fat and just 4 g of saturated fat, according to the Godfather's Pizza website. Cholesterol content is 20 mg and sodium content is 530 mg. Understandably, the cheese pizza offers the fewest calories of any original crust pizza on the Godfather's menu.

Veggie Pizzas

Vegetables add very few extra calories and they don't influence sodium very much. Cholesterol and fat content is unchanged when compared to cheese pizzas. For a hearty pizza without excess fat, veggie is the way to go at Godfather's Pizza. A slice of large pizza with mushrooms, black olives, onions, tomatoes and green peppers is just 10 extra calories when compared to plain cheese and sodium only increases by 80 mg.

Meat Pizzas

Total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium all increase dramatically for most meat options on Godfather's menu. The "Super Hawaiian" pizza is the best option for meaty pizzas, with each slice clocking in at just 330 calories and featuring ham, bacon, peppers and pineapple. Avoid the "Super Taco Pizza" at all costs, as it is the most unhealthy pizza on the menu. According to the Baylor College of Medicine, an average adult should only consume 20 g of saturated fat each day. Just two slices of a large Super Taco Pizza will provide 24 g of saturated fat.

Crust Varieties

When you eat at Godfather's Pizza, choosing the right crust varieties are just as important as choosing the right toppings. The thin crust offers the lowest calories and sodium without compromising on taste. For most varieties of large pizza, each slice of thin crust pizza shaves off 80 to 100 calories and 300 mg of sodium when compared to the original crust.

Appetizers

If you plan on complementing your meal with side dishes, consider the bread sticks. According to the Godfather's Pizza website, a serving of bread sticks is only 110 calories with zero saturated fat and zero cholesterol. Avoid the Cinnamon Monkey Bread, as one order of this sugary bread adds 860 calories to your diet and 970 mg of sodium and 4.5 g of saturated fat.
