Dark circles under a man's eyes can age him, making him appear older than he really is. Other reasons besides lack of sleep can cause men to develop dark circles. According to MayoClinic.com, allergies, eczema, heredity, nasal congestion, exposure to the sun, thinning skin and a man's lifestyle are a few common reasons for dark under eye circles. There are several treatments available to men to get rid of dark circles without having to resort to invasive cosmetic procedures or cosmetics.

Step 1

Try at-home treatments such as laying a cold compress across your eyes or wrapping a bag of frozen peas in a towel to help relieve some of the darkness. Sleep with your head elevated by two or three pillows to prevent fluids from building beneath your eyes. Also try taking an allergy pill to help alleviate the allergies causing your dark circles.

Step 2

Talk to your doctor about your options to rid yourself of your dark circles. Your doctor could prescribe topical bleaching treatment such as hydroquinone to help reduce the appearance of dark circles caused by hyperpigmentation, a harmless skin condition caused by excess of the brown pigment melanin.

Step 3

Visit with your dermatologist regarding Fraxel laser treatments, a noninvasive laser that does not carry the same risks for men as more invasive treatments. According to Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery, men bleed more than women and the complications of invasive cosmetic treatments are excessive bleeding and a longer recovery time than women. This laser treatment can target just the dark circles beneath the eyes, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. A Fraxel restore laser treatment should last no more than 30 minutes and you may return to normal activities immediately after your session. The side effects of the treated area may appear slightly red and swollen for about 24 hours.
