If you suffer from chronic cold feet, then you know that "getting cold feet" is not just an expression. Research by Cardiff University in England concluded that cold feet could potentially lead to getting a cold. Cold feet can be annoying or even painful, and the reasons for cold feet vary, as do the different products used to treat cold feet.

Vitamin B-12

Taking a vitamin B-12 supplement can lessen your cold feet symptoms. According to the University of Maryland, a deficiency in B-12 can lead to a disease called pernicious anemia, which makes it difficult for your body to create sufficient red blood cells. Cold feet are a symptom of this disease. Vitamin B-12 can be taken in supplements or liquid form or by increasing foods that are rich in the vitamin, such as liver, fish and beef.

Parasites

Parasite flushes may also help alleviate your cold feet problem. Various kits on the market contain supplements that rid the body of parasites. These are found in many health stores. According to John Hopkins Children's Hospital, parasites that have entered the body can cause malabsorption syndrome, which prevents the body from processing and digesting food properly. One symptom of this disease, again, is cold feet.

Yeast

Immune-boosting supplements also can help. Candida is an overgrowth of yeast on and inside the body, including your feet. Yeast is always present in the body, but can accelerate its growth when your immune system is down. This sometimes results in cold feet. You might also try anti-fungal medications, which come in cream, gel and pill formulations.

Peripheral Arterial Disease

Prescription drugs can help warm your cold trotters. Cold feet can be caused by peripheral arterial disease, or PAD. This disease causes the blood vessels throughout your body to become narrow, resulting in low or poor blood circulation and causing feet to become cold. Some causes of PAD are diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Your doctor might prescribe medication to help open the blood vessels.

Temperature

Socks are an inexpensive, easy and often-efficient solution to the problem. Sometimes feet are cold due to the temperature. Warm air rises, so while your upper body may be warm, your feet may be feeling a draft. If your feet are often cold in one particular setting, like at your desk at work, try a foot warmer. Foot warmers come in many sizes, styles and prices to fit almost any budget.
