The Bar Harbor and Ellsworth areas of Maine are famous for the mountains of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, the swimming, the boating, the biking and the lobster. Aside from the natural outdoor attractions, there are other family attractions and amusements such as fun parks and mini golf. All of these are within range of Acadia, so you can stay near the park and enjoy all of the activities and entertainment right at your fingertips.

Mini Golf Courses Only

Vokes Mini Strokes is a solo golf course in Trenton. It is not a part of an amusement park or other attraction. The course only costs $3 as of 2010, and your mini golf ball will be a bright, exciting tie-dye. You'll experience decorations including a Blues Brothers statue, sculptures and fountains. Vokes is located off of Route 3 in Trenton. Route 3 also runs straight into Bar Harbor, so you'll have easy access to Mount Desert Island and Acadia.

On the island, outside of Bar Harbor center, you'll discover Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf. You will be able to play alongside a pirate ship, complete with talking pirates and displays. A few holes are even in or on the ship. You can choose from two separate courses, or take on the 36-hole adventure.

Family Fun Center Mini Golf

Seacoast Fun Park is in Trenton, right off Route 3 on the way to Bar Harbor. The mini golf is part of a park with bumper boats, golf carts and a sky swing. There is no park admission fee, so parents who are just accompanying children need not pay if they're not participating. For extra fun, you'll find water slides, a rock climbing wall and water balloon water wars.

Campground Mini Golf

If you are looking for camping and mini golf together, Narrows Too Campground is your place. Its Whale-In-One mini golf course, however, is open to everyone, even if you are not interested in camping. The campground is located in Trenton.

Pitch and Putt

In addition to its mini golf course, Vokes has a pitch-and-putt course if you'd like to try your hand at something closer to real golf. This may be good for older kids who get bored quickly with mini golf--it will be a bit more of a challenge for them. Pitch and putt will be more expensive than mini golf, and will take longer to complete a course, so be prepared.

Concessions and Souvenirs

Golf courses such as Pirate's Cove have T-shirts and Maine souvenirs, as well as food and concessions such as lobster rolls, hot dogs, candy and soda. Seacoast will have these amenities as well. Smaller golf courses may have snacks and sodas, but will not have souvenirs.
