The LifeSpan Fitness TR1000 is a treadmill with built-in entertainment system for in-home use. It has all the bells and whistles, while providing a functional machine for all people from beginners to athletes. The LifeSpan is a higher end machine you can use to lose weight, improve cardiovascular fitness, and reduce stress. It is not cheap though. Expect to pay more than $1,000.
Identification
The LifeSpan Fitness TR1000 treadmill is good for walking and running. The deck has eight compression shock absorbers to ease the stress on your joints. The speed ranges from 0.6 mph to 10 mph. There are 12 levels of incline to choose from, starting at no incline. The treadmill can also be folded up when not in use to save space.
Special Features
The LifeSpan Fitness treadmill has buttons on the handlebars to adjust the speed and incline without having to remove your hands to change the speed and incline on the display, like most treadmills. It has heart-rate monitors in the hand rails to provide you with feedback on your heart rate. The My Zone heart rate program can adjust the intensity of your workout for you according to your target heart rate zone. You can do this manually, as well by changing your speed and/or incline.
Entertainment and Exercise
Walking on a treadmill can get quite boring, which is why this LifeSpan treadmill features a 7-inch LCD TV in high-definition. The TV is cable-ready and has AV jacks so you can use a DVD player to watch your favorite movies during exercise. The TV is designed so that if it breaks, the rest of the treadmill will still function. You can also position your treadmill in front of a TV, listen to music, or play a book on tape---whatever you need to do to keep you motivated. There is only a 90 day warranty on the entertainment system.
Be careful not to hunch your shoulders and crane your neck to see a TV while exercising. Good posture is always to walk or run with a straight spine, a level chin, and your shoulders pulled back.
Programs
The LifeSpan Fitness TR 1000 comes with several programs. Programs are a standard benefit of electric treadmills and can be helpful for providing guidance and variety to exercisers. You can select a program for weight loss or to challenge the endurance of your cardio-respiratory system. You can use the machine manually if you do not want to use a program or if the program feature malfunctions.
Details
The LifeSpan TR 1000 has a 275-lb. weight limit. It is 34.5 by 50 by 76 inches in size. The treadmill comes with a lifetime frame and motor warranty. Parts are covered for three years. The motor is a 2.0 horsepower continuous duty motor. It weights 195 lbs.
Misconceptions
Many people think that all they have to do is buy one piece of equipment, and use it when they have time, to get benefits. Your body will adapt to walking or running on a treadmill within three to four weeks and you will have to continually increase the intensity or duration of your workout to get the same benefits. The LifeSpan treadmill will be most effective if used as part of a cross-training program where you alternate between using its various programs and doing other activities like jumping rope, hiking and swimming.
