Lemons are a useful fruit that can treat a myriad of skin issues, and their easy availability and affordable price make them a viable option over expensive brand-name beauty products. Lightening dark spots, evening out skin tone, soothing a dry scalp and zapping an oily complexion are all things that this small fruit can treat. There are a few techniques for applying lemon to the skin based on the intended treatment and desired result.

Scalp Application for Dryness and Flakes

Step 1

Squeeze half the juice of one lemon into a bowl, enough to yield 2 tablespoons. Stir in 2 tablespoons each of olive oil and water with your lemon juice. You may also substitute almond or coconut oil for olive oil.

Step 2

Pour your scalp mixture into a plastic squeeze bottle with a pointed applicator tip. You can find these at most beauty supply stores.

Step 3

Dampen your hair with cool water and apply the treatment to your scalp, running the tip from the front of your hair to the back and working across your head. Rub the mixture over your scalp with your fingertips. Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse your hair. Shampoo and condition as normal.

Step 2

Wipe all over your face with the juice-soaked cotton ball, or you may just apply the lemon juice directly to oily skin, unevenly toned areas and blemish scars.
