Accommodations
Beebe Lake Regional Park is located six miles east of Buffalo and has a group camping area for tents only. Lake Maria State Park, 29 minutes from Buffalo, features 17 backpack sites overlooking lakes and ponds and two tent-only, group camp sites for up to 50 people each. Camper cabins are also available for rent.
Fees and Reservations
Both of the campgrounds are open year round. The group camp area in Beebe Lake Regional Park has a weekend/holiday fee and a weekday fee. You can make reservations to camp in Lake Maria State Park up to one year in advance. On-season, which is typically late spring to mid-fall, and off-season rates apply.
Activities
In Beebe Lake Regional Park you can enjoy swimming in the beach, fishing from the pier, picnicking and hiking or playing volleyball and horseshoes. Lake Maria State Park offers hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.
Facilities and Amenities
Beebe Lake Regional Park has a picnic area, 1.2 miles of hiking trails and a creative play area. The park also has restrooms and shelters that can be reserved, which are open from May through September. Lake Maria State Park's group camp area has vault toilets and water. The park also has picnic tables, fire rings, grills, drinking water, canoe access and access to hiking trails and fishing piers. The warming house has bathrooms and an indoor picnic area.
Health and Fitness Attractions
In Buffalo's Sturges Park and Park Shore Pavilion, open from May to October, you can go paddle boating, canoeing, biking or walking on paths and during winter, ice skate on the lake. In lakes Buffalo or Pulaskiwhere, you can enjoy fishing, swimming, sailing, canoeing, boating, water skiing and jet skiing. Play a nine-hole game of golf in Buffalo Heights Golf Course or an 18-hole game in Wild Marsh Golf Course. Three miles south of Buffalo, visit Deer Lake Orchard, where you can pick different kinds of apples from August to October. About 11 miles from Buffalo, Bob & Judy's Farm Market is a place where you can buy Minnesota-grown vegetables such as squash and pumpkins from July through September.
