Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP) has been a health benefits provider in Colorado since 1980. Based in Grand Junction, it is an independent, not-for-profit organization that works to keep its members healthy and allow physicians to direct the care of their patients. RMHP offers health care options for most Colorado residents, and plans are sold through independent insurance professionals who help customers navigate the available options and find a health care plan that meets their needs and budget.

Options for Individuals and Families

RMHP offers an array of plans for individuals and families, called SOLO. All of these plans cover preventive care and well child visits and screenings without having to meet the deductible, as well as coverage options for inpatient and outpatient medical services and prescription drugs. The RMHP network includes 12,000 doctors and more than 100 hospitals in Colorado, as well as a network of providers to cover you while you are traveling. As required by federal law, these plans include dependant coverage to age 26, and there are no lifetime maximums on benefits. The costs for these plans vary, depending on the type of coverage you choose and the amount you are able to pay out-of-pocket for your medical care.

Health Saving Account Options

RMHP also offers SOLO Individual and Family Health Savings Accounts (HAS). With an HSA you contribute to a savings account that is used to pay for your medical costs. Once you reach your pre-set deductible, RMHP will cover 100 percent of your medical costs, including prescription drugs. The HAS plans also cover preventive care and screenings and have tax advantages.

Medicare Beneficiary Options

Rocky Mountain Health Plans have options for Medicare beneficiaries that vary by county. If you have Medicare Part A and Part B, you can enroll in either a Medigap or Medicare Coverage plan through RMHP. These plans help pay the costs of medical care not covered by Medicare and in some cases offer additional benefits at a low monthly cost. There are specific eligibility periods for enrolling in these types of plans.

Employer Options

Rocky Mountain Health Plans offers a variety of options for businesses of all sizes in Colorado. Plans are broken down for businesses with 1 to 50 employees or 51 or more employees. Employers can choose from PPO and HMO plans--some with high deductibles--Health Savings Account Plans, and other options to offer their employees.

Child Health Coverage Options

If your family cannot afford health insurance but you do not qualify for Medicaid, you can enroll your child in RMHP's Child Health Plan Plus program. This is a low-cost health plan that allows children to get the medical and dental care and prescriptions they need. This plan is only available to financially eligible children under the age of 18.

Medicaid Options

In certain counties in western Colorado, RMHP coordinates and provides the delivery of Medicaid benefits for some residents. Eligibility for this program is determined by the local Departments of Human Services.
