The state of Pennsylvania is home to many KOA (Kampgrounds of America) Campgrounds and offers an array of affordable camping opportunities to choose from. Campers can enjoy tent and RV Camping as well as the use of KOA rental cabins, cottages and camping lodges.
Campground Locations & Opening Dates
Pennsylvania has14 KOA campgrounds in addition to more than 200 campsites at parks statewide. There are KOA campgrounds in many of the major cities and rural areas across the state, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Gettysburg, Grove City, Jonestown, Pine Grove, the Pocono Mountains, Bellefonte, Pine Grove, Kinzu East, Madison, Williamsport, Allentown and Erie. All the KOA campgrounds in Pennsylvania are well-maintained and offer cabins, cottages, lodges RV and tent sites. The opening dates for most of the KOA campgrounds are between the months of April to November, and a few of them remain open throughout the year.
KOA Cabins, Cottages & Lodges
Pennsylvania's KOA campgrounds offer campers cabins, cottages and lodges that vary in size. The cabins, cottages and lodges are made to comfortably accommodate individuals, families and small groups. The lodges can accommodate more persons than a cabin or cottage. KOA accommodation units and facilities are available for rent, and the facilities offered at each KOA campground vary by location. Individuals and families usually use one-, two- and three-room cabins or cottages, while small groups use lodges which have three or more rooms. Many camping lodges and three-room cabins and cottages have beds, self-contained bathrooms and kitchen facilities.
Campground Facilities
KOA campgrounds across the state offer different types of facilities depending on the location and most campgrounds provide accommodation, parking, restroom and laundry facilities. The KOA campgrounds at Allentown and Philadelphia offer one- and two-room cabins, deluxe camping cottages and camping lodges. The Madison, Bellefonte and Erie campgrounds have one- and two-room cabins and camping lodges. The campground at Kinzua offers one- and two-room cabins and deluxe camping cottages.
Campground Amenities
There is a wide range of amenities offered by the various KOA campgrounds in Pennsylvania. Most of them provide free wireless internet, 50-amp electric, dump stations and water hookups. The Pine Grove campground sits on 100 acres and has a 3,500-square-foot recreation center, swimming pool with a spiral slide, 3,300-square-foot lodge and a 60-seat indoor movie theater. The Gettysburg campground has a heated pool and offers bike rentals, mini-golf and a movie theater.
Area Attractions
Pennsylvania's KOA campgrounds are in proximity to many area attractions. The Gettysburg campground is located near local attractions such as Hershey and Amish Country. The Allentown KOA campground is near the Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom amusement parks that offer world-class roller coaster rides. Other local attractions near the campground include the Lehigh Valley Zoo, Crayola Factory, Cabela's and an 18-hole championship golf course. The Jonestown campground is just a few miles away from Hersheypark and Chocolate World, and the Hollywood Casino. While staying at the Williamsport campground, you can visit the Little League Museum in South Williamsport and Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, about an hour away.
