According to the Mayo Clinic, psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that causes rapid cell growth on the surface of the skin. These abnormal growths result in thick, silvery scales on the skin, and sufferers experience dry, red and itchy patches of skin that can be painful. The disease can appear at any time, then go into remission and reappear again unexpectedly. There is no cure (as of 2009), but treatments can ease the pain and discomfort associated with this disease. One treatment option is homeopathy, an alternative medical approach that attempts to activate the body's immune system to fight the disease.
Step 1
Take homeopathic sulfur. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), compounds that contain sulfur may provide relief for psoriasis sufferers. Many homeopathic products contain sulfur as an ingredient, though depending on the severity of the condition, different concentrations should be attempted. ABCHomeopathy.com (see Resources) recommends taking tinctured sulfur 200X either in tincture form (one to two drops in water, once a week) or tablets (two to four, once a week). (The "X" in homeopathic formulations indicates how many times the substance has been diluted.)
Step 2
Try homeopathic nickel formulations. Psoriasis sufferers, according UMMC, have had a degree of success with homeopathic nickel, a mineral that is closely related to iron. Homeopathic nickel is usually given orally in combination with other homeopathic ingredients such as potassium bromide, sodium bromide and sodium chloride (see Resources).
Step 3
Use topical homeopathic applications. Creams and special homeopathic psoriasis shampoos can be purchased online (see Resources), and include the following homeopathic ingredients: Calendula Officinalis, Azadirachta Indica, Borax, Thuja Occidentalis, Natrum Muriaticum, Aqua Solis, Curcuma Longa, Hydrocotyle Asiatica and Berberis Aquifolium.
