Hand mapping is a form of reflexology that uses the thumb and fingers to treat countless organs, glands and structures of the body via the hand. Often used in conjunction with foot reflexology, hand mapping reflexology can pave the way for increased health benefits. In order to achieve the same results solo, however, hand reflexology may require additional sessions.

Easy and Non-Invasive

Since hand reflexology is performed by applying pressure from fingers and thumbs on reflex points on the hands, the practice can provide an easy, cost-effective and safe way to treat ailments. While reflexology hand mapping feels best (and may be more effective) when done by someone else, it is possible to work on oneself.

Relaxation

By using the proper pressure points, hand reflexology can be used as a form of stress and anxiety relief.

Circulation

Lymph and blood circulation may be improved through pointed hand reflexology treatments. As an added benefit, treatments help cleanse and nourish the cells.

Revitalization

In addition to restoring organ and gland function, reflexology hand mapping is believed to improve functionality of the digestive system--a boon for those with disorders like irritable bowel syndrome. It also may boost the immune system.

Pain Relief

Eliminating or lessening the frequency of headaches--including sinus and migraine varieties--are among the most common (and touted) uses for hand reflexology. Hand reflexology also may be used to treat arthritis.
