The Unilever Lux Super Rich Shine Shampoo is a moisturizing and volumizing shampoo that promises to give you healthier hair. The brand has used such actresses as Natalie Portman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anne Hathaway to promote their product. The shampoo is said to cleanse your hair while nourishing it from within, giving you naturally shiny, healthy and smooth hair with an attractive rich floral aroma.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Sodium laureth sulfate is a detergent and surfactant used commonly in shampoos and bath products. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) has deemed it safe for use in cosmetics in limited quantities. It is known as a skin, eye and lung irritant. A study published in the Universal Journal of Toxicology stated that sodium laureth sulfate should be used only when it can be "formulated to be non-irritating."
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is an anionic, nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan which is included to penetrate and nourish the hair with moisture. It is distributed widely throughout the connective, epithelial and neural tissues, making hair richer, shinier and healthier. The LA Times calls it "skincare's new favorite ingredient."
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Cocamidopropyl betaine is an amphoteric synthetic detergent that is increasingly being used in cosmetics and personal hygiene products. According to a study by S.E. Jacob and S. Amini, published in Dermatitis in 2008, cocamidopropyl betaine induces relatively mild skin irritation, but the CIR deemed it safe for use with some qualifications.
Dimethinocol
Dimethinocol is a conditioning and moisturizing agent and emollient, used in skin and hair care products.
Sodium Chloride
Sodium chloride is basically common salt and is used in shampoos to help adjust the viscosity. It also helps in softening the water while washing the hair.
Glycol Distearate
Glycol distearate is added to shampoos to make them opaque and pearlescent.
Hydrolyzed Conchiolin Protein
Hydrolyzed conchiolin protein is a hydrolysate of black pearl, derived by acid, enzyme or other technique of hydrolysis. It is included in the shampoo to moisturize hair.
