Bio Force home gyms are produced by Fitness Quest as a more economically priced and effective alternative to Bowflex home gyms. The machine uses a single resistance rod that is mounted horizontally on the back of the device, as opposed to Bowflex's multiple vertical rods. Bio Force home gyms are marketed through TV infomercials, similar to other Fitness Quest machines like the Gazelle Glider and the Ab Lounge.
Types
As of October 2010, Bio Force home gym systems are available as a 1.7 or 2.2 model. Both models offer roughly the same workout capabilities, but the 2.2 model has 220 lbs. of resistance standard, as opposed to the 1.7 model's 170 lbs. The Bio Force TNT 2.2 also comes standard with a lifetime warranty on all parts.
Features
The resistance bar on the Bio Force home gyms is marketed as Total Nitroforce Technology, or TNT. The bar contains two nitrogen filled cylinders that create various levels of resistance depending on where you place the sliding lock resistance knobs on the bar. The gyms also come with an accessory kit to accomplish additional exercises, and a workout DVD starring Eric Lichter, a professional sports trainer.
Function
Bio Force home gyms are capable of accomplishing over 100 exercises that target your legs, chest, back, arms, shoulders and abdominals. Workout programs included with the Bio Force home gyms concentrate on strength training, cardiovascular conditioning or a mix of both. Regardless of your end goal, the Bio Force workout plan suggests that you exercise on the machine 30 minutes per session, three times a week.
Considerations
When comparing the Bio Force home gyms to similar equipment, such as the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE, the Bio Force is cheaper. The sliding lock resistance system of the Bio Force home gym is also quicker to change than the hook and rod system of the Bowflex. However, the maximum amount of resistance you get from a Bio Force home gym is 220 lbs. While this is comparable to the factory model of the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE, the Bowflex is upgradeable to 410 lbs. of resistance, which may be necessary for leg or squat exercises.
Size
When fully assembled, the Bio Force home gyms measure 52 ¾ inches long by 65 inches wide by 82 inches tall. The machine weighs approximately 174 lbs. when fully assembled, making it difficult to move for storage between workouts. The large footprint of the machine may be a drawback for users in apartments or with a limited workout space.
