Full Service Clubs
Full Service Clubs offer a variety of services and have the facilities that support them. Most will have personal trainers available in addition to group classes. In these centers you will find equipment for cardio-vascular exercise, strength training, mats for streaching and yoga, free weights and more. Some have amenities such as swimming pools, jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms.

Local Fitness Chains and Private Clubs
There are also smaller local chains like The Edge, and individual clubs like Southport Raquet Club. While the basic range of equipment may be the same in some of these facilites, the character of the establishment can be decidedly different. Speciality Clubs
Fairfield also has a number of speciality facilities. Some like the United Athletic Centers specialize in instruction for children and offer a variety of classes. Others like Villari Studios of Self Defense only offer Martial Arts training and equipment in their Dojos. Then there are equestrian facilities such as Wimsey Brook Farms--listed the "Best of Redding" in Horseback Riding for 2008 and 2009 by the U.S. Local Business Association--indoor rock climbing, year-round ice skating and swimming facilities, and gymnastics.
Have it all
Not only can you have it all in Fairfield County, you should. A good exercise program will include a balance of activities: strength training for your bones and muscles; yoga, Pilates and dance for flexibility and coordination; and cardiovascular exercise. This does not mean you have to lock yourself into a set program until you feel like a hamster on a wheel. Take advantage of the diversity. Use those muscles and the flexibility you have built up, get out there and sail, or if the weather is bad, go climb the walls at Carabiner's Indoor Climbing.
