Hang a baby's changing table on the wall at a height that allows you to stand up straight. This could alleviate the backache that often comes from bending over the crib or sitting on the floor while changing your baby's diaper. ConsumerReports.org states that you could change more than 2,000 diapers during your baby's first year and continue changing diapers until you potty-train your baby around age 2. Wall-mounted changing tables are available in different materials and colors and are not limited to the style found in restaurants and retail bathrooms.

Step 1

Run a stud finder over the wall to find the wall studs in the location you wish to hang your baby's changing table. Mark the location of your first wall stud and measure 16 inches horizontally to the right or left of the first stud to find your second stud. Standard wall studs are located every 16 inches in standard residential construction.

Step 2

Measure 59 inches from the floor and place a mark on the wall stud for your first mounting hole. Use a level as a guide to mark your second mounting hole 16 inches directly to the right of your first mounting hole location, confirming that both mounting holes allow for level mounting of the baby's changing table.

Step 3

Measure and mark your third and forth mounting hole locations 22-3/4 inches beneath your first and second mounting holes. Drill pilot holes at the four locations through the drywall and into the studs using a 1/8-inch wood drill bit.

Step 4

Mount your baby's changing table on the wall with four 1/4-inch by 3-inch tapping screws provided with the mounting hardware.

Things You'll Need

  • Stud finder
  • Tape measure
  • Level
  • Drill
  • 1/8-inch wood drill bit
