Modern diets often rely on processed foods, which may contain a lower amount of minerals than diets based on whole foods. For this reason, vitamin and mineral supplements may help to replace any deficient nutrients in the diet. Another source of these nutrients are supplements containing colloidal minerals, which means that very small particles of the minerals are suspended in distilled water. These colloidal minerals may offer health benefits, although science has not proved these results. Always consult with your doctor before beginning any alternative treatment.

Balanced Mood

Colloidal gold may promote more balanced moods. Colloidal gold may have a calming effect and improve symptoms of attention-deficit disorder in children, says the website of Alchemists Workshop, a company that makes and sells colloidal products. However, you should check with a pediatrician before giving colloidal minerals to children because medicines and supplements can affect children differently than adults.

Improved Cognitive Function

Colloidal gold may improve cognitive function, including boosting IQ scores, according to a corporate study. The research, conducted by Optimox Corporation, administered Wechsler Intelligence tests to participants who had taken colloidal gold supplements, and compared them against a control group that did not take the supplements. Participants taking the colloidal gold supplements saw modest increases in IQ scores according to Optimox, a company that sells dietary supplements. However, peer-reviewed scientific studies have not replicated these results.

Arthritis Relief

Colloidal gold may relieve some discomforts associated with arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, says a seller of the supplement that uses the name Colloidal Gold. Colloidal gold appears to reduce joint swelling, which can reduce pain in patients with chronic arthritis. Patients with arthritis may also find they have more energy while taking colloidal gold. However, you should always check with your doctor before discontinuing use of any conventional treatments for arthritis.
