One-eighth of the 32-oz. frozen dessert, or 113 g, contains 330 calories. This serving provides 38 g carbohydrates and 3 g protein. There is just 1 g fiber, as it contains no whole grains or fruit skin, which are good sources of fiber.

Fat Warning

With 19 g fat, the cobbler is not a low-fat dessert. Much of this fat is unhealthy saturated or trans fats. The American Heart Association recommends keeping saturated fat intake to less than 7 percent of total daily calories and trans fats to less than 1 percent, or just 2 g total daily, based on a 2,000-calorie diet. While too much saturated fat on a regular basis can increase your risk of heart disease, the man-made trans fat can raise your levels of bad cholesterol and decrease your levels of good cholesterol. The cobbler contains 5 g trans fat per serving, which far exceeds recommendations.

Beneficial Nutrients

The cobbler contains fresh peaches, which may be considered a serving of fruit. It also provides 60 percent of the daily recommended allowance for vitamin C. The enriched flour in the crust helps the cobbler offer up some B vitamins and 6 percent of daily iron needs as well.

Sugar

The cobbler contains 17 g sugar per serving. While some of this sugar is naturally occurring in the peaches, much of it comes from the sugar added to the filling, which is listed as the second ingredient. The Institute of Medicine recommends keeping added sugars to less than 25 percent of total daily calorie intake.

Another Option

Make your own cobbler by mixing together fresh or frozen sliced, peeled peaches, 1/3 cup sugar and ¼ cup flour. Put the filling into a baking pan. Top with a quick crust made by cutting 5 tbsp. cold butter into 1 1/3 cups flour, 2 tbsp. sugar, ¾ tsp. baking powder, a dash of salt, ¼ tsp. baking soda and 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour. Mix with your hands to create a crumb-like texture and stir in 1 cup fat-free sour cream and 2 tbsp. reduced-fat milk. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the mixture is bubbling and the crust is browned. This dessert contains about 150 calories and 4 g fat for a 113 g serving equivalent to Marie Callender's size. The homemade version contains just 2 g saturated fat and no trans fats.
