How to Use Moisturizer to Remove Body Hair

If you have ever purchased a lotion or conditioner only to discover that it wasn't what you were expecting, you don't have to throw it away. You can save money by using these products to remove body hair. Body lotion or hair conditioner soften body hair and moisturize the skin and can take the place of traditional shaving cream. Additionally, many of these products are cheaper than products specially formulated for shaving.

Step 1

Wet the area with a warm, damp wash cloth. Alternatively, take a shower or bath and wet the area.

Step 2

Apply a thin layer of lotion or conditioner to the area. Do not rub it into your skin. Let it sit for five minutes to soften the hair.

Step 3

Shave the area as normal with a safety razor. Shave against the direction of hair growth and swish the razor in a bowl of warm water between strokes.

Step 4

Rinse the area with warm water to remove any loose hairs. Follow with a cool rinse to tighten the pores.

Step 5

Blot your skin dry with a towel. Do not rub as it may irritate the skin. Apply a soothing after shave cream or lotion if desired.

Tips and Warnings

  • Baby oil, cold cream and facial moisturizer will also work.
  • If you shave in the shower, use caution with oil-based moisturizers. These products can make the tub floor slippery.
