Aloe Vera Juice Benefits for Arthritis

An estimated 46 million Americans have some form of arthritis, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Arthritis typically attacks the joints in the body, resulting in inflammation, pain and stiffness. While there is no known cure, there are several remedies that help alleviate the symptoms. Natural substances like aloe are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and can help relieve the joint pain and immobility associated with arthritis. Aloe comes in many forms, including a juice made from the gel of the aloe vera plant.

Reduce Inflammation

According to Natural Living Products, "Acutely inflamed swollen joints caused by rheumatoid arthritis or trauma respond very well to ingestion of aloe vera juice." This juice contains ingredients that reduce inflammation, including bradykinin, salicylate and natural steroids. It also contains vitamins A, B, C and E, which are not only anti-inflammatories, but strong anti-oxidants as well. These ingredients react in the body by absorbing the toxins produced during the process of inflammation, thus decreasing the level of swelling caused by arthritis.

Joint Repair

Many forms of arthritis result in joint immobility and deformation. Aloe vera juice contains high levels of minerals that promote enzyme reactions in the joints affected by arthritis, allowing them to heal quicker. Aloe vera juice also contains high levels of glucosamine, a natural compound found in healthy cartilage, which can aid in the repair of damaged cartilage in joints affected by arthritis.

Relieve Soreness

Arthritis sufferers typically experience stiffness and soreness around the joints. The anti-inflammatory agents in aloe vera juice reduce this soreness by relieving pressure from the inflamed joints. Once the inflammation and pressure is relieved, joints can move more freely without pain and discomfort. Being able to move and exercise can also help with arthritis because is strengthens the joints and surrounding muscles and keeps the body flexible.
