Hair is primarily made of keratin, a protein that is also found in your nails. According the KidsHealth.org, hairs grow inside hair follicles, or tiny holes deep inside your skin. Each follicle has a root, which causes hair to grow. When roots become stimulated by blood circulation, new growth can occur. Certain herbs cause blood to circulate and thus stimulate hair follicles. If you are experiencing hair loss, you may need to contact your doctor. Herbs are not meant to replace medical treatment.

Rosemary Essential Oil Mix

H. Panda suggests a simple herbal remedy to make to hair stimulate hair follicles in his book "The Complete Technology Book on Herbal Beauty Products with Formulations and Processes." It mostly consists of a concentrated amount of rosemary essential oil. Rosemary has been used for centuries to help stimulate hair growth.

In a small, nonporous bowl, add 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp. jojoba oil and 1/2 cup aloe vera gel. Mix it all together until well blended. Then add 50 drops of rosemary essential oil. Be careful not to get it on your skin, as it is highly concentrated plant material. Essential oils always need a carrier to blend in when applied to the skin.

Clean off the area near your eyebrows where you would like to add the blend. Take a cotton ball and rub the herbal blend into your skin. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes each night.

Herbal Blend Tincture

Asa Hershoff and Andrea Rotelli write in their book, "Herbal Remedies: A Quick and Easy Guide to Common Disorders and Their Herbal Remedies," that herbs that help with circulation can help hair to grow. They suggest using gingko biloba, cayenne and gotu kola.

Add a few drops of each of the tinctures into a few ounces of olive oil. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the oil as well. Mix it well and skin test to on your arm to make sure no irritation occurs. If not, then blend it into your skin where you would like the eyebrow hair to regrow. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

You can also make a concentrated tea of the gingko biloba and gotu kola. This means adding half herb to half boiling water and let it sit for at least 20 minutes. Strain it and add to your favorite shampoo.

Horsetail is another good herb for hair as well as the Chinese herb fo-ti. Amla is another herb that can be found in supplement form that helps cell regeneration.
