Top Diuretics From Health Food Stores

If you suffer from fluid retention and bloating, you may want to add naturally diuretic foods to your intake. Many foods and beverages act as diuretics by encouraging the elimination of excess water from the body. Be sure to drink enough water while taking anything that is a diuretic to prevent becoming dehydrated.

Beverages

Drinks that contain caffeine will flush excess water from the body. Green tea is particularly good at this. Green tea does contain a high level of caffeine. It also offers many other health benefits when consumed regularly.

Produce

Asparagus contains an important alkaloid compound that is known to boost kidney function and assist in excretion of wastes and water. Both tomatoes and watermelon contain a high percentage of water, which stimulates the kidneys in releasing fluid. Lettuce assists in supporting a healthy metabolism and flushes toxins from the body.

Herbs

Dandelion is used as a natural diuretic. Linden has sedative properties and it increases urine production. Stinging nettle has detoxifying properties that makes it particularly effective in this area as a diuretic.
