Linda G. Rector-Page writes in her book "Healthy Healing: A Guide to Self-healing for Everyone," that bad breath, fatigue, body odor and a coated tongue may indicate you need a colon cleanse. If cholesterol numbers are high, a colon cleanse may be a good choice because it helps increase absorption of cholesterol lowering foods. Please check with your doctor before trying a color cleanse. Colon cleansers may be harmful to your health if not done properly.
Grapefruit Seed
Rector-Page suggests taking grapefruit seed extract to help cleanse the color. She claims adding 10 to 15 drops in your water helps eliminate colon toxicity and constipation. Be sure to drink six to eight glasses of water daily to help keep the bowels moving, as well as taking warm baths and a long walk everyday. Seeing a professional for colonic irrigation is also an effective way to cleanse the colon.
Licorice Root
Jordan S. Rubin and Joseph Brasco write in their book, "Restoring Your Digestive Health: How the Guts and Glory Program Can Transform Your Life," licorice root tea and licorice root extract have been used for centuries for health ailments, especially those related to the gut. They claim it helps heal and clean the digestive tract without any drawbacks.
Coffee Enema
Dr. Edward Group III writes in his book "Health Begins in the Colon" that the fashioned method of an enema can be used to cleanse a colon. It can be uncomfortable and dangerous if inserted improperly. He suggests adding organic coffee and herbs in an enema, which has shown great results, but it is necessary to talk to your health care provider to help you.
