The American Academy of Dermatology says that acne formation involves excess oil, bacteria, inflammation and clogged pores. It is a common skin condition in the United States and can occur at any age, but it is mostly found on teenagers. There are a number of foods you can consume if you suffer from acne.

Cheese

The University of Maryland Medical Center days cheeses such as ricotta, Swiss and gouda are all sources of zinc, which is essential for treating acne conditions. Some evidence suggests that a topical form of zinc in combination with a topical antibiotic erythromycin may be helpful in reducing acne. Zinc also helps heal tissues and prevents acne scarring. Also, it stops acne from forming by regulating activity in your oil glands.

Grains

Grains contain vitamin B sources, which are important for acne. Low amounts of the B vitamins pyridoxine, niacinamide and riboflavin can result in acne formation. Thiamin helps improve circulation and acts as an antioxidant to heal acne, while riboflavin aids the body when dealing with stress, which may cause acne.

Carrots

Carrots are important for acne because they contain vitamin A sources, which helps promote healthy skin and is involved in the development of skin cells. Vitamin A stops sebum production, which helps prevent acne. Also, vitamin A helps the body deal with oxidaive stress, which also can cause acne.
