Overview

Cellulite refers to fat deposits on the body that give the skin a lumpy and uneven appearance. According to the Mayo Clinic, most women have cellulite, and the condition is a result of fat accumulation that pushes against connective cords under the skin's surface. You will see cellulite commonly appear on the butt, thighs and hips. Although you can try commercial products or plastic surgeries to reduce the appearance of cellulite, natural methods are much cheaper.

Step 1

Lose weight. Weight loss is the most effective natural way to reduce cellulite. Try a reduced-calorie eating plan that focuses on gradual weight loss.

Step 2

Massage the area. Deep tissue massage improves circulation and can help remove excess fluid that can make cellulite more pronounced. Some spas offer a particular type of treatment, called lipomassage, to reduce cellulite.

Step 3

Begin a training regimen that works out your problem areas. Focus on training exercises that strengthen your thighs, buttocks and hips. Building muscle in these areas can help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Some exercises you can try include lunges, leg lifts and squats.

Step 4

Reduce the amount of salt in your diet. Too much salt can lead to fluid retention and cause the appearance of cellulite to be more pronounced. Flush your system by drinking at least six to eight glasses of water a day.

Step 5

Limit your exposure to toxins. Avoid cigarettes, alcohol and foods high in saturated fat. To help combat the effect of toxins, increase the amount of antioxidants in your diet. Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, and you should have at least five servings daily.
