If you're like most people, the notion of a parasite living inside you is too disturbing to dwell on for any length of time. However, some health-care practitioners believe that parasites are a fairly common occurrence in the human body. According to TaoofHerbs.com, parasites prefer to live in warm, damp environments, and may initially reside in the human intestinal tract. However, once they have entered the body, parasites can spread throughout. An imbalanced pH in your body can compromise your immune system and make your body vulnerable to parasites, reports TaoofHerbs.com.

Step 1

Eat foods that are alkalizing. According to the Wolfe Clinic, parasites are more likely to proliferate in your body when your pH balance is too acidic, a condition otherwise known as acidosis. By eating foods that will increase your body's alkaline levels, you may be able to restore balance. Fruits and vegetables are considered alkalizing foods. Although citrus fruits do contain some acids, they don't add to the acidity of your pH balance once processed. These foods are not considered a cure for parasites.

Step 2

Supplement with calcium. According to the Wolfe Clinic, calcium can promote an alkaline pH balance. This mineral forms the compound mono-ortho-calcium phosphate, which creates a more alkaline environment in your body. Because calcium can be poorly absorbed through regular supplements and foods, the Wolfe Clinic recommends that you take an ionic calcium product. There is no scientific proof that calcium can reduce or eliminate parasites.

Step 3

Reduce your intake of highly acidic foods. According to HealthyNewAge.com, avoiding or cutting back on foods that will increase your body's acidity may also be useful in restoring pH balance. Among the foods considered acidic are meat, fish, poultry, eggs, most carbohydrates and fats. While you may not be able to eliminate these foods, reduce them in comparison to alkaline foods. There is currently no scientific data suggesting that avoiding these foods will reduce parasites.

Tips and Warnings

  • Take a pH test. There are various tests you can purchase for evaluating your body's pH levels, reports the Wolfe Clinic. These will not test for parasites, however.
  • Speak to your doctor if you are concerned about parasites in your body.

Things You'll Need

  • Calcium supplement
