Bicycling can be one of the best ways to enjoy the scenery while getting a solid workout. It's even more fun when you have a friend with whom to enjoy the ride. In Wasilla, Alaska, there are several places you can look to find the best person to join you.

Arctic Bicycle Club

Join a bike club. The Arctic Bicycle Club, which hosts events in south-central Alaska, is a non-profit group that has been around since the 1970s. The group provides people with safety tips, education and activities. It is also a common ground where bicyclers can get together. Join the club and meet people who share your passion. By joining the club, you also get access to tips about various forms of biking. Meetings are held in Anchorage, which is about a 40-mile drive south from Wasilla. This is a perfect spot to meet some bikers in your area. The group hosts events throughout south-central Alaska.

Set Out on an Adventure

Though Wasilla is a remote community, bikers are scattered everywhere throughout the United States. Go on an excursion and find a cycling buddy. Your next-door neighbor might be a cycling enthusiast. Even if you don't find one today, set out on a regular adventure to find someone who might be a regular buddy and who can enjoy Alaska's stunning beauty.

Ask Around

You don't need to be riding a bike, or see someone riding a bike, to find the buddy for whom you are looking. Ask people who you meet if they cycle or if they know someone who cycles. Then, the next time you want to set out, call someone to take a trip somewhere. Wasilla has remarkable scenery, which can provide for the perfect backdrop as you get to know your new friend.

Visit the Local Bike Shop

The Alaska Bicycle Center is located at 201 West Nelson Avenue in Wasilla. Who better to know some biking locals than the people who work in the shop. Staff can hook your bike up with some accessories, and potentially hook you up with a new friend. If the staff cannot recommend a friend, tell them to keep you in mind if they come across somebody. Leave your name and contact information in case someone rolls in.

Post Information on the Internet

Use social networking sites or sites such as CraigsList or Kijiji to let people know what you are looking for. You could also do it the old-fashioned way and use a bulletin board at the local community center. Write out what you are looking for and post your contact information; someone might even call you on the same day. You could even post a request in the local newspaper, the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman. See the resources section for the link.
