Fast and Effective Weight Loss Exercises

Weight loss as a goal should be a combination of both exercise and diet. The diet needs to consist of low-fat foods while exercise should consist of movement to increase the body's metabolism. Increasing the body's metabolism means speeding up digestion and how the body uses food. Finding a daily routine, which helps in toning the muscles as well as increasing the body's heart rate, is essential to losing weight quickly and effectively, the Department of Health and Human Services states.

Stretching

Before any cardiovascular exercise is attempted, the person should stretch his arms, legs and back. This will prevent cramping of muscles. Stretching the body will increase its endurance during an exercise session. Stretching should be done before and after exercise. Muscle cramping is less likely to occur after proper stretching of muscles.

Jump Rope

Jumping rope is an old-fashioned exercised that was popular back in the 1960s. Many children performed this as well as hopscotch. This activity is cardiovascular strong and promotes the heart to become energized with movements of all parts of the body, MayoClinic.com indicates. Jumping itself stimulates the heart muscle to increase its pumping action. Using a jump rope to jump as many as tolerated without pain or severe shortness of breath will help to burn calories quickly. Burning calories should be the goal in all forms of exercise and is stimulated in jumping rope.

Jumping Jacks

Jumping jacks are another form of exercise that the soldiers in training typically use in their exercise training. They promote increased pumping of the heart and the rapid burning of calories. Jumping jacks are an easy exercise and should be done with supportive shoes or sneakers on a surface other than concrete. Before performing jumping jacks or any other new exercise routines, the person should ask his doctor if he is healthy enough to engage in such activity. The physician also may have suggestions for specific exercises to help the person.

Sit-Ups

Removing fat from the core of the body is necessary in the burning of fat. The belly usually reveals the amount of body fat acquired over time. The ability to "pinch more than an inch" is both a sign to lose weight as well as accumulated body fat. Sit-ups are just what they say. They consist of lying down and sitting up, stretching to touch the feet. Over time, the ability to touch the feet will become easier as the body fat from the stomach decreases because it is targeted in this exercise, the Department of Health and Human Services indicates.
