The square-shaped hamburger was made famous by Dave Thomas in 1969, when he opened the first Wendy's restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. Nutrition information became public knowledge and a priority for Wendy's in the 90s. Today, the menu has a wide variety of choices with a similarly wide variety of nutritional value.

Those Square Burgers

Nutrition can vary depending on what you order at Wendy's. For example, a single burger with everything contains 470 calories, 21g of fat, 75 mg of cholesterol and 880 mg of sodium. Make that a triple burger with everything, and you're getting 1,030 calories, 63 g of fat, 240 mg of cholesterol and 1,170 mg of sodium. The Baconator Triple tops the list with a eye-popping 1,150 calories, 73 g of fat, 265 mg of cholesterol and 2,030 mg of sodium.

Chicken Options

If you're in the mood for chicken there are a lot of options as well. The Homestyle Chicken Sandwich has 460 calories, 16g of fat, 50 mg of cholesterol and 1140 mg of sodium. Make it a Chicken Club, and you get 620 calories, 30 mg of fat, 85 mg of cholesterol and 1,400 mg of sodium. A 5-piece order of chicken nuggets contains 240 calories, 16 g of fat, 35 mg of cholesterol and 420 mg of sodium. Honey BBQ Boneless Wings top out with 620 calories, 21 g of fat, 85 mg of cholesterol and 1810 mg of sodium.

Side Items

A burger may not seem complete without a side item to complement it. Medium orders of fries contain 420 calories, 21 g of f at, zero cholesterol and 340 mg of sodium. On the lighter side, a Caesar's side salad contains 60 calories, 3.5 g of fat, 10 mg of cholesterol and 95 mg of sodium. If you're feeling adventurous, a small order of chili contains 220 calories, 7 g of fat, 35 mg of cholesterol and 870 mg of sodium.

Kids' Meals

If you have kids to feed or just want smaller portions for health reasons, the cheeseburger in a kids' meal has 270 calories, 11 g of fat 40 mg of cholesterol and 690 mg of sodium. The 4-piece nugget contains 190 calories, 13 g of fat, 30 mg of cholesterol and 340 mg of sodium. Kids' meal fries contain 210 calories, 10 g of fat, zero cholesterol and 170 mg of sodium.

Frosty Treats

If you want to treat yourself to a ice cream treat, a small chocolate fudge frosty shake contains 410 calories, 11 g of fat, 35 mg of cholesterol and 190 mg of sodium. A Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough Twisted Chocolate Frosty packs 480 calories, 16 g of fat, 30 mg of cholesterol and 200 mg of sodium. The treat with the most calories is the M&M Twisted Vanilla Frosty, with 560 calories, 19 g of fat, 40 mg of cholesterol and 170 mg of sodium.
